Welcome to the Leadership Tuscaloosa Alumni Association!

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Leadership Tuscaloosa Alumni Association (LTAA) web page. Leadership Tuscaloosa, founded in 1983, is a premier leadership development organization with over 725 participants to date. The LTAA provides the impetus for Leadership Tuscaloosa graduates to “give back” to the West Alabama community. We do this in a number of ways:
  • We fund and organize Forerunners, a high school leadership program modeled after Leadership Tuscaloosa. In May 2005, 60 high school juniors from public and private high schools in Tuscaloosa County graduated from this program.
  • We are the Adopt-A-School partner of Flatwoods Elementary School. Practically every day you can see one of our members in the school mentoring and reading to students. We provide awards/incentives for students who work hard and raise their grades from one report card to the next. We also provide Leadership Awards to students who display leadership skills through the character education program. Throughout the year we provide many other activities that nurture and encourage the students at Flatwoods.
  • Each year we provide scholarships for class members of Leadership Tuscaloosa who otherwise would not be able to participate. This year we provided $3,000 in scholarship money, which was divided among six class members.
  • We also produce and publish a free graduate directory for LTAA members. Our new website that you are viewing allows LTAA graduates to access information regarding fellow graduates, the program, upcoming events or seminars, contact information, etc.
  • Every other year we financially support and help organize an opportunity for continuing education. The first year we discussed ethics and in 2003 we held a forum on Constitutional Reform. We are busy preparing for our 2006 seminar that will be held in May.

As you can see the LTAA is an active organization with the goal of piquing and sustaining interest in community activities in West Alabama. Our graduates and members are responsible and productive members in our community. If you would like further information or have questions about the Leadership Tuscaloosa Alumni Association, contact us at The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama at (205) 391-0559.

Adopt-A-School

Looking for ways to serve your community! LTAA has a host of opportunities to help. One of these ways is our Adopt-A-School partnership with Flatwoods Elementary.

Activities between the school and LTAA are many.  As a graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa, you can volunteer to read to students, hand out awards at the assemblies recognizing excellence, spend time in the lunchroom during “Duty Free Lunch” for teachers or just simply vote on a “Work of Art” during fundraising campaigns.  These are just a few of the many events that require volunteers like YOU!  Call 391-0559 to volunteer your time.  You won’t regret it.
